Almost there

I’ll stop talking about the apartment soon, really. I moved the lion’s share of my stuff off the back porch and I was taking some empty boxes downstairs to the storage closet, which is right near the landlord’s office.

I heard a familiar voice. I had a handul of unmarked keys in my pocket, so I was carefully trying each one in the door and so I had plenty of time to eavesdrop. The voice was my summer landlord!

She was complaining about people not moving out in time, which meant that she didn’t have time to shampoo the carpets of the rooms. Basically, she was meaning me. Adding to the funny, my current landlord was having a big problem cleaning this apartment because it wasn’t a clean move in / out. So, I heard them bitching about kids (meaning me) for a bit before I asked for the key to the storage closet. I wonder if the lady recognized me. Heh.

I went grocery shopping today. Actually, this was phase 2. Last night, Jenny, Sheila, Rick and I went to Dominick’s. I was too embarrassed to get the type of stuff I got last year since Jenny’s so healthy. Plus, I felt rushed shopping with everyone else. So today I went out and got the unhealthies: bacon, eggs, frozen pizzas, ground beef, etc. I was all set to have eggs for dinner, but I can’t find any oil for the pan. And there’s no butter, only margarine. It’s time to get butter…

When I was really young, I couldn’t tell the difference between butter and margarine. I just thought margarine was really old butter. When I got a little older, my brother made sure that I knew the glories of butter and the evils of the yellow stuff. He makes grilled cheese with full pats of creamy butter melting into every square inch of the toast.

Mmm. Should’ve gotten some bread too.
