I actually made some money today! I went to do some home computer consulting for one of the families from camp. A clear violation of camp policy (personal contact after camp with a camper), but you know what? They’re not paying me anymore, so I feel no need to really abide by their rules.
I got a little lost going to the house, but I’m glad I made it. It’s a beautiful house in Lincoln Park. Inside it’s very modern (what I saw of it) and I guess the most impressive thing is that this house seems to be the size of mine. But it’s in the middle of the city.
Rick and I were talking about future homes. He thought our home suburb was pretty perfect, with its access to Milwaukee. I disagreed. Kuwie and I used to talk about how we’d be so much different if we grew up in cities. For one, I would have been able to understand all those books set in New York City in the 50’s (such as the classic It’s Like This, Cat). But then again, I can read all these suburban angst books and watch the movies and feel the ennui.
I want my kids to grow up in a city. I want them to be cooler than I was.
