November Project

NaNoWriMo.org : Home - What is NaNoWriMo?

So, Sil told me about this thing, this National Novel Writing Month. I was intrigued. Back when I was deciding whether or not to continue teaching at MacU versus finding real employment, I thought about just coasting off MacU money and writing short stories and trying to get them published.

Well, since then, I figured out that getting pay ontime from MacU was at best a dicey proposition. But I’m still working there, and in fact I’m going to be teaching for two weeks straight in November. But I think that I can still manage this project, which is to write a 50,000 word (200 doublespaced pages) novel(la) from Nov 1 to the end of the month.

I’m really excited, and the deadline should keep me focused (and hopefully stretch the excitement). I’ll still blog here (and waste the typing motions on something non novel, but hey, I ‘ll need to type some stuff like email anyway). In fact, my blog writing should get better…

So, until Nov 1, I’m getting all of my reading out of the way, so that I can soak up some good prose.
