When I was a kid, I had “The Children’s Illustrated Bible Stories” and I would read the stories within thinking that I was reading the Bible. When I graduated to a real Bible, I sorely missed not just the pictures, but the prose style. But I like verse numbers too, so I guess life is all a bunch of tradeoffs.
