Adam and I have been planning on seeing Equilibrium ever since I saw it mentioned on Slashdot and saw the trailer. Which was sweet.
Ah trailers, why can’t someone make a movie that’s as exciting as the trailer? Or maybe in the future we could just watch a crapload of trailers stuck together, perhaps 3 different storylines told over 15 or 20 trailers, intermixed. Hmmm.
Anyway, back to Equilibrium. We’d been planning on going on Tuesday afternoon but I got the call around 9:45. “Let’s go see it now,” he said. And we looked. This movie wasn’t playing anywhere close.
So we trekked out to Schaumburg, a good 30 minutes away, busting tail in order to see this movie. There were only six other people in the theater so we could scoff and guffaw as we liked.
As we kept telling ourselves on the way back, a) we’ve seen worse and b) it wasn’t that bad. All the way back. a. b. a. b.
I liked the Gun-Kata stuff a lot (as it was intended to entertain) and the overall setup (dystopian Brave New World / Fahrenheit 451) wasn’t really that bad. The CG city was horrible (showing how old this movie is) but the gunplay was impeccable. Not too much John Woo slo mo but a lot of really well shot (heh) stuff.
The beginning is hideous, as they apply exposition in bucketloads but once that’s choked down, it’s really not that bad. Ah yes. b.
I just wanted to say that I loved Equilbrium, and so did 50 of my friends. I wish it was in theater’s
This shit was off tha madnose!!!!! I mean, I agree
with you about the long boring intro but after that it made sense and I really enjoyed it. Sone compare it to the matrix but I would never. That gun play shit brought swome pretty good ideas to the table though.
