Sorry I haven’t written in a while. I’ve been gently upbraided for it. Here I am again.
New Year’s Eve celebration was pretty low key. We had dinner at Prairie Moon and then came back to the apartment for champagne toasting and mocking of the local TV personalities on TV. The next day Rick and Sheila went up to Milwaukee and Kuwie and I stayed here.
I’ve been having a pretty unproductive New Year. The guy I’m writing the shopping site for hasn’t emailed me in a while, so that project’s spinning its wheels and the other one I was working on has also been stuck in limbo while the copywriter (my friend Laurel) moves to Boston.
I’m vaguely jealous of her, getting to pick up and move someplace new. She also gets to do improv in a completely new place (our old compatriot Joe is a teacher at ImprovBoston and he’s starting a Harold team and wants her on it).
So, anyway, since I didn’t have anything to work on, I decided to clean the apartment on Thursday. Well, the kitchen and the main room. First I wrestled with the vacuum cleaner (I found out it was broken). As that didn’t work, I swiffered (swiffed?) and then I busted out the Mr. Clean and made the dirt my monkey.
Today I’m supposed to clean my room. Somehow it just cluttered itself.
I’ve been listening to the New Pornographers Mass Romantic CD nonstop since my brother gave it to me for Xmas. It works well either as background music or just sitting still and listening to it. My Rio broke after 3 years of faithful service so I need to replace it or upgrade to an iPod. But I have to wait until Macworld to see if a newer, spiffier iPod comes out.
Speaking of Macworld, man, is it a boring year. After so many shows of disappointment, I think that the community is finally just sitting back and letting new stuff come, instead of dreaming up wacky things. Sure there are the “There’ll be a tablet!” people fighting with the “iPhone will connect everyone!” who are sparring with the “you all are stupid!” folks on the usual arenas of combat but I’ve never really felt the need to get involved.
