Perspective: The new jailbird jingle - Tech News - CNET.com

This makes me think of a post some guy had on Macintouch about a ripcord daemon, something that could blank your computer upon execution, in case the computer fell into the wrong hands with sensitive information inside.

At the time, I thought, “That’s crap, I’d never want to lose my data like that.” But in the face of jail time for an mp3, I might consider making a script. It’s the sort of program that’s hard to test.

I’m not really worried about getting called in by the FBI anytime soon, but as McCullagh says, “someone’s going to be a test case.”

Hey, this sort of thing is a good rationalization for not having full regular backups of my computer!
