Waiting for Stupidity

Posted on Tuesday 11 March 2003

This past weekend, while I was home, my dad, Devin and I were putting my niece’s crib back together for her little brother to sleep in (he’s outgrown his current basket). We had to put this back together in the cramped quarters, because it wouldn’t fit through the door if we did it elsewhere. As I was the only one small enough to fit under the base to work the Allen wrench, I did my part to get it together.

However , my dad thought it would be more helpful to move the crib closer to him to give me more space, forgetting that the base was only held in place with dowels. He pulled and the thing fell right on my forehead. This wasn’t the only casualty: Devin punctured his finger getting a pin into position.

Anyway, I’d sort of forgotten the injury until I was washing my face this morning and I found that the bump is still there. I wonder how many brain cells I lost. And how many I have left to lose.
