Spring Break: Day 5

Posted on Thursday 27 March 2003

Woke up in Duxbury. Orvin and I tried to bang pots like Max, but we just couldn’t live up. we cleaned the house and settled bills and things. Mike and I put some tape on his windshield cracks.

The rental car went on ahead to LaGuardia to pick up Nayla (the sick girl, who was now feeling much better) and the other cars drove to Jessie’s house in Westport, CT. The drive was nice and sunny, not confusing at all. We did splinter near the end as Peter’s car had to make a stop for Jess. Meanwhile, Max left early from Boston and just drove there, so he had to chill with her family alone for an hour and a half until we got there.

Jessie’s mom was really nice. Her dad is crazy. Loves to talk, to entertain, to try to embarrass her. It’s great. Anyway, they told us they were barbequeing, well, by that, they meant cooking up a crapload of filet mignon for everyone. Oh man, did we load up on the food. I think Max and Peter had 2 or 3 filets on their own. Also pasta, salad, garlic bread. And brownies for dessert. Yeesh. The house was the sort of house that made me want to sell out completely and get a work you to death job in order to pay for it. It was incredibly well put together. Jessie glowed all the while she was there, being around her family. After dinner, she sang as her dad played piano.

That night, we worked on short form improv games (while drinking) in preparation for the special ed show on Thursday for Matt’s high school. Had a good time. It was nice to do improv without a care except for the gimmick of the game, which invariably lead to funniness. I even took a turn as a party quirks host and found that, dang, it can be freakin’ difficult.

Slept on the floor because I had to be upstairs to let hear my cell phone alarm (set to 6 AM) and Max took the couch near the outlet. I was too lazy to unplug and replug it in elsewhere, so I tried sleeping in a smaller couch before finally giving up and hitting the floor. I’ve really bonded with this sleeping bag.
