I really wanted to get a foosball table this year, but we just didn’t have space in the apartment. My family has a table at home (I got my first black eye from it when I got too close to it and my Uncle Peter rocketed his goalie backwards). My brother is unbeatable at the game. Even at my foosball prime, when my friends would come over to play, he could still beat me several times over before I even scored once.
My friend Joe Linn had a table but it was one with flat corners (so the goalie needs to be three men in order to get the ball out of the corners). I prefer the rounded corner tables because I think the ball moves more interestingly. I’m better playing people one on one, but Rick likes to play defense, so we’d team up and take on challengers.
Ah, high school. Good times.
Nice title. Classic geekiness.
You really need to mention the epic foosball battles we once had at Apple, I think I took the 3-game series, but it was 11-9 each time. Relive the glory!
Foosball is always an epic battle. I also used to play it in Spain when I was there in high school. The table there sloped towards the middle, so the ball was always centering itself. That was wacky. Not sure if it was on purpose.
I do miss the days of Apple: easy work by day, 2 hour lunches, foosball and videogames at night. Too bad the happy fun house was not meant to be…
