Titanic Ticks Away

Posted on Tuesday 3 June 2003

Monday was the last Titanic show of the season. It’s probably my last year as a producer. I’m conflicted as to whether or not I’ll coach next year. I’d still love to see my team and direct them, but the other stuff that goes along with being a director really started to wear on me, as well as the time commitment.

Anyway, the house was packed, as is usual for the last show of the year. All three teams had great shows. The resident team was down to three people: Dan, Tom and Beth. Kind of the core. They had a money show. Got to go out with a bang (Tom and Beth are graduating). I felt a twinge, because I used to be on that team way back during junior year. I was assistant directing and also playing on the team and that was weird as hell and then the next year, since Gary was their coach, I didn’t feel right being on the team.

After the show, I went to get booze for the afterparty. Jessie and her roommate Jeanette and Max and I went to the Jewel. We got loads of alcohol and Jessie and Jeanette asked for snacks and soda.

“Go ahead, it’s on me,” I told them.

An older man passing by said, “Watch out, they gonna make a husband out of you!”

The party was at Jessie’s. We watched the tour video. Peter did a great job editing everything, from the opening credit craziness to this tearjerking ending to the tune of Aimee Mann’s “Wise Up.”

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again… keeping Titanic going is the most worthwhile thing I did in college.
