Rick’s parents took Sheila, Jory and I to a graduation brunch today at the Four Seasons. I love buffets.
Every buffet has a different character. The one at Deer Valley in Colorado is about excessive quantities of meat. The one my parents took us to in Naples is about excessive quantities of seafood (oh, and prime rib. What fish is that from again?)
The Four Seasons’ buffet is about choice. Everything is in small portions so that you can sample them all. And while you can develop favorites, I got the feeling from the waitstaff that they really just wanted you to try them all.
Started off w/ an artichoke heart w/ sundried tomato spread, some lamb, a few potatoes (not too many, had to keep my eyes on the prize), a duck eggroll, a mochi ball, and some beef satay. See? It’s all about mixing foodtypes.
Next round: seafood and more Asian. Got a potsticker, seared ahi tuna, crab claws, shrimp, quail.
Dessert was the best. I had a madeleine, a meringue cup w/ berries, a tiny espresso cup of tiramisu, another tiny cup of creme brulee, and a tall skinny thing of mousse w/ raspberry topping.
Mmmm.
Afterwards, Rick’s dad took some photos of the bunch and then Jory and I went to hang out at the Sony Store and caught a glimpse of the upcoming Michigan Ave Apple Store (supposedly going to be the ultimate Apple shopping experience). It opens Friday and the first 1000 get T shirts, so maybe I’ll hop on over after work.
