I”m so excited for the upcoming 3 day weekend, it’s not even funny. I’m not even sure what I am doing, but just the idea of waking up tomorrow, turning off my alarm and going back to sleep sounds like undiluted heaven.
It sucks, however, that my apartment is basically empty. Rick moved out on Tuesday, Jenny left last Friday, and Jason is in LA for a couple days. So the big room echoes when people speak. Really.
Last night Todd came over to play videogames and I realized how long it had been since I’d seen him or Adam, even though I’m living with them next year. It was just easier to hang out with the apartment people, or El. I still owe him 7$ for a movie. Crazy.
We still don’t know where we’re living next year either. Hope it’s not a box.
Anyway, re: the videogames, it was nice to get away from Bond (Nightfire), since that’s all Rick, Jason and I were playing the last week or so. Nice as it is to get Jason addicted to a game, I was getting bored of our setup (Phoenix Base, Team King of the Hill, Random weapons, Bots cranked to full blast). We played Amplitude, Midnight Club II and woohoo! Puyo Pop via linked GBA’s. I totally whomped, which was a nice change after all the Halo death I’ve received at his hands. I’m more happy about having Puyo Puyo portable (I had to use the messed up GBA, so I could barely make out the colors!).
Mmm, videogames.
I’m really just killing time until my manager gets done with his current meeting and we can plot out development, so I guess I’ll keep going.
Mmm, Puyo Pop. Have you ever had the feeling like there are games you are meant to play? I think Puyo Puyo is mine. I remember the first Puyo Puyo clone I really played, John Stiles’ Skittles, later renamed to Candy Crisis due to the litigious nature of the Mars Corporation.
At first I played it like Tetris, just clearing blobs. Going to the chain mentality was a little tougher. What really makes Puyo Puyo is the fight against the other person. My sister and I would play until I’d see the patterns churning in my head at night.
We told my brother about the game and he practiced in secret. The next time he came home from school, we challenged him. He sandbagged for a couple games then said, “OK, this one’s for all the marbles.” Then proceeded to unleash wave after wave of combos into my unsuspecting Puyo (I mean, Skittles, I mean, non trademarked candies).
Dreaming about the games, eh? That’s when it’s time to back off the digital content for a while. I knew I had to cut back in college when I dreamt I was the main character in a sort of Quake II/Ninja Gaiden agglomeration. I know it was a first-person side-scroller, but I don’t know why.
kieran is looking so so so cute.
we’re having a great time… wish you were here!
