El and I painted the new place over the weekend. The living room is Pottery Barn green (actually “Grape Leaves” at Home Depot) and the bedroom is blue with hints of gray (”Sonata”). Paint color names are awesome. I wanna be the guy who dreams them up. Like “Happy Grass” or something. Hm. Too many drug connotations. See? It’s tough.
Painting was tiring, but pretty exhilarating. Working on your own place is completely different than painting a place you rent (which has been painted a million times before by the Eastern European super). There’s more stuff to be anal about. Although I totally gave up on that when we realized all the bright spots left (”Bookshelves will cover that”). El and I both screwed up our hands doing it so in retrospect, a professional painter might have been a good idea. It’s pretty cool walking in and seeing the green. Can’t wait to move in… 11 days and ticking!
I love paint color names too! My favorite so far has been “Niblet”, which is the yellow that we put on two walls of the baby’s room. I loved the name so much, I almost designed the room to fit the color. Good thing it’s a nice color - although if it had been a horrible color, even the coolest name in the world wouldn’t have persuaded me to use it.
