Z-Day

Posted on Sunday 30 October 2005

I think that zombies have become my new favorite Halloween monster. I was really into vampires as a kid, but there seems to be a zombie renaissance going on. I think that while they have certain similarities (being able to turn their victims), zombies have a certain charm. I mean, most of their power derives from banding together into a horde, while vampires seem much more lone wolf. Also, vampires seem really full of themselves, while zombies seem much more chill. Give ‘em some brains and they’re content to shamble.

So, in honor of the new undead hotness, El and I had Z-Day yesterday.

First off, in the morning, I beat Shaun of the Dead and also the Stubbs soundtrack.

Came back, went for a swim in the pool (nothing really zombie related except that trying to run from on end to the other felt vaguely zombie like. Also, my triceps got tired really quickly and everyone knows that zombies need good triceps for proper zombie posture.

Then, cooked up a storm. We made two batches of chili, one w/ meat, one w/out which I referred to as brainstew. Then I grilled artichokes, which I realize aren’t the spookiest of vegetables but hey, I wanted to try. The chili turned out well. The artichokes… not so much (didn’t steam them long enough before putting them on the grill).

Woods and Erin came over for dinner and then we watched Army of Darkness. Todd came over after the NU game finished and we all watched Shaun of the Dead.

All in all, Z Day was a success (and I was totally brain dead this morning, so yay for Daylight Savings turning off).

Til next year, braaaaaaiiiiiiiinnnnns.
