So... about the writing... thanks to Rick for his editorial help in creating the Cool Asian list. Ok, I admit... my hair's pretty spiky. Link time. In the Onion... Smoove B returns! I tell you, there isn't anything more inspiring than a Smoove B article in the springtime. Actually, he returned last week, but I only read it on Monday.

My new news about the backend of this site is that I've finally started learning XML and XSL. And the magic of XSLT to put them together. I never thought I'd say this, but I kinda wish that the world ran on IE 5 so I could trot out the new system with just XML and XSL lying on the server. Well, it'd be better if all browsers supported XSL-XML linking. However, the world doesn't work that way, so I'm going to have to write some Java to patch them together and make the files. But it's still pretty frickin' sweet. I keep playing with the site XML and the XSL and then being floored by the results. It cost me some sleep last night. Anyway, I'm working on adding cool metadata as well. So hopefully you'll be able to search the ever growing archives by keyword, theme, etc.

So, turning down the geek meter a bit... I received a lot of nice comments about the Magnetic Fields song on Sunday. So... I'm offering another one. It's a bit happier sounding. The lyrics are a bit depressing, but hey, this is my music here. :-) The other one will be up for another week, but then will probably get bumped out of the rotation, so get it now if you want it.

100,000 fireflies
I have a mandolin. I play it all night long. It makes me want to
kill myself. I also have a dobro made in some mountain range -
sounds like a mountain range in love but when I turn up the tone
on my electric guitar I'm afraid of the dark without you close to
me. I went out to the forest and caught 100,000 fireflies. As
they ricochet round the room they remind me of your starry
eyes. Someone else's might not have made me so sad but this is
the worst night I ever had, 'cause I'm afraid of the dark without
you close to me. You won't be happy with me, but give me one
more chance - you won't be happy anyway. Why do we still live
here in this repulsive town? All our friends are in New York.
Why do we keep shrieking, when we mean soft things? We should be
whispering all the time...
